The pattern is worked in whole cross stitch, half cross stitch and a outlined in back stitch using 35 shades of stranded cottons with some blending.

Cross-stitch is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches in a tiled, raster-like pattern are used to form a picture. The stitcher counts the threads on a piece of Even weave fabric (such as linen) or Aida (a fabric with more pronounced marked squares)  in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance.  Cross-stitch is the oldest form of embroidery and can be found all over the world.
