Seasons Greeting Christmas Stocking Panel

Seasons Greeting Christmas Stocking Panel is ready to be to be embroidered, embellished or simply assembled to add some festive cheer to your Christmas decor.

The panel features two separate Christmas Stockings to be embellished and constructed.  If you have multiples of Stockings to make for the family or as decorations, you could  always make four separate Stockings.

Cut out each Stocking print (remembering to leave enough for a seam allowance), embellish with embroidery, beads, sequins, gold threads and ribbons and simply  back with a matching plain fabric.

Editors Note:  I like to add a thin layer of Pellon wadding to my Stockings when I make them up…. this provides a bit more stability and helps hold the shape of the Stocking.

This fabric is sold by the panel of four stockings prints.

The total Panel size is 60cm W x 112cm L

The stocking design measures 22cm wide at the top of the stocking.

The total width of the stocking at the widest part – mid toe to heel – 26cm

The length of the Stocking is 35cm

Just in case you are a bit nervous about embellishing and adding beads and sequins to your Christmas Stocking for some extra bling

Why do we hang Christmas Stockings?

A Christmas stocking is an empty sock or sock-shaped bag that is hung on Christmas Eve so that Santa Claus (or Father Christmas) can fill it with small toys, candy, fruit, coins or other small gifts when he arrives. These small items are often referred to as stocking stuffers or stocking fillers. In some Christmas stories, the contents of the Christmas stocking are the only toys the child receives at Christmas from Santa Claus; in other stories (and in tradition), some presents are also wrapped up in wrapping paper and placed under the Christmas tree. Tradition in Western culture threatens that a child who behaves badly during the year will receive only a piece or pile of coal. However, coal is rarely if ever left in a stocking, as it is considered cruel. Some people even put their Christmas stocking by their bedposts so Santa Claus can fill it by the bed while they sleep.
